1. Why do I need to Study at CACPE only?

Chandrashekhar Agashe College of Physical Education, Pune, is a premier institution offering Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree Courses in physical education as also an M.Phil course. Besides a high quality standard of education and learning, CACPE offers a wide variety of practical knowledge in the field and an all-round development opportunity to its students. CACPE is affiliated to the Pune University, is accredited by NAAC and is recognized as a Research Centre in physical education. It is spread over a sprawling area of 32 acres of land, has the requisite infrastructure and facilities and vast play fields and tracks. All the modern administrative facilities are housed in suitable buildings. The college also has its own hostel and mess facilities. CACPE is a centre for quality physical education, one of its kind, known and recognized widely across the state of Maharashtra and the country.

2. What are the courses in physical education offered at CACPE?

CACPE is affiliated to the Pune University and is recognized as a Research Centre in physical education. The courses it offers, thus, are specialty courses in physical education along with a academic subject included as a separate method of learning. At present, CACPE offers the following courses:

A new Bachelor of Physical Education course of 3 years’ duration is to be introduced by CACPE shortly.

3. Does CACPE have the facility for distance learning?

At present, CACPE does not offer the facility of Distance Learning.

4. What in-house facilities does CACPE have?

CACPE is spread over a sprawling area of 32 acres of land, has the requisite infrastructure and facilities and vast play fields and tracks. All the modern administrative facilities are housed in suitable buildings. The college also has its own hostel and mess facilities. A well-equipped library, computer lab, huge play fields, running tracks are a part of the CACPE infrastructure.

5. What facilities does CACPE provide for out-station students?

Besides a high standard of education not found anywhere else, CACPE provides comfortable accommodation and nourishing food to its out-station students by way of its in-house hostel and mess facilities. Out-station students are made to feel at home. The location of CACPE offers another advantage to out-station students. CACPE is located at a very convenient distance from the major bus, ST and railway stations of Pune city.

6. Are there any short courses offered by CACPE?

CACPE offers a wide range of short courses from time to time. These are mainly in the fields of yoga, physical sciences, sports etc. It also holds summer vacation Cricket Coaching Camps on its premises. Besides these, short Certificate Courses for gym instructors, aerobics instructors etc are also offered from time to time by CACPE.

7. How can I get admission to CACPE?

A candidate should have passed a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree Course from Pune University or any other recognized university with at least 45% marks to be eligible to get admission to the B.Ed. 1 year course. He/she should clear the B.Ed course to get admission to the M.Ed. course and subsequently the M.Phil. course. There are other specific norms defined course-wise on this website and in the published Prospectus for the course. These can be referred to for further details. Admissions to eligible candidates are generally offered as per the selection procedure laid down by the State Government of Maharashtra from time to time.

8. What are the durations and fees for the courses offered at CACPE?

At present, CACPE offers the following courses:

Fee structures and particulars are enlisted in the Prospectus published for the purpose and these undergo changes as per Government / University directives from time to time. The fee structure broadly covers entrance fees, caution money deposit, tuition fees, general fees, camp fees, hostel fees, mess charges, uniform and sports kit fees, educational trip fees etc. Examination fees, migration fees are separately charged as prescribed by the University of Pune.

9. What are the extra-curricular activities conducted and encouraged by CACPE?

Besides the short autonomous course conducted by CACPE, it also offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities. These are mainly of the following nature:
1. Play centre for children aged below 15 years
2. Gymnasium for public use
3. Summer camps for selected sports & games
4. Swimming courses for beginners
5. Aerobics and yoga classes
6. Personality Development camps
7. Blood donation drives & camps
8. Community service to increase health and fitness awareness
9. Organisation of events like races, sports and other competitions
10. Organisation of lectures and seminars at domestic and national level
CACPE encourages an all-round participation of its students in all the activities conducted by it.

10. What are the developmental activities offered by CACPE?

CACPE already has been active in overall development of its students. Besides a high class academic training and education to its students, it offers an opportunity for their all-round development through activities like coaching camps, lectures & seminars, practical work, organisation of extra-curricular events & courses, social service etc. Student participation is encouraged at all levels in all activities, thus ensuring their development into dynamic physical education graduates, masters and specialists.

11. How do I visit CACPE?

CACPE is located at a very convenient distance from the Swargate Bus & ST Stations as also from the Pune Railway Station and the Shivajinagar ST & Railway Stations. Commuting within these points is easy by either metered rickshaws or local buses. 12. Are there any vacation courses / camps offered by CACPE?

CACPE organizes summer vacation camps for selected sports and games. It also offers aerobics and yoga classes during vacations. Short certificate / crash courses in various areas are also offered. Details like dates, venues and fees etc. can be had from the CACPE office.

13. What is the scope of employment after passing a course in physical education?

Graduates, Post-graduates and Research Scholars completing the courses from CACPE are qualified to be appointed as supervisors, administrators and teachers in physical education and academic subjects. They also can find placements as recreation leaders in schools, colleges, industrial establishments, commercial firms, governmental and non-governmental agencies engaged in promoting physical education and sports.

14. What are the special benefits offered by CACPE to backward class students?

50% of the total seats available for admission are reserved for backward classes like SC / ST / VJNT / OBC. Besides the reservation, the eligibility norm of minimum 45% marks to get admission to the B.Ed course is relaxed by 5% for backward class students.

15. What is the stature of CACPE vis-à-vis other colleges of physical education?

CACPE is one of the premier colleges imparting physical education in India. As such, its stature is already high as compared to other colleges in the field. CACPE has set a high standard for itself and others to follow. The facilities offered at CACPE are second to none. It is the second Physical Education College in India and first in Maharashtra to be assessed and accredited by NAAC. CACPE has been graded B++ according to the recent grading pattern. In accordance with the older grading pattern the college has got a five star status. Besides, it is affiliated to Pune University, which in itself is one of the best in the country and in Asia as well. This speaks volumes about the high stature of CACPE.
